medical, surgical, and cosmetic needs of our patients. Dr. Sander believes it is important to practice
the three “A’s” emphasized at the Mayo Clinic where he trained in dermatology—to be Able, Amiable,
Medical dermatology includes treating common disorders of the skin, hair and nail disorders such as: acne, eczema, atopic dermatitis, infections of the skin with bacteria, fungus, or viruses, vitiligo, hair loss, psoriasis, nail disorders, and skin allergies. However, Dr. Sander is also board-certified in Internal Medicine and has expertise in treating rare skin diseases such as cutaneous T cell lymphoma and lupus erythematosus.
Screening patients for skin cancer is one of the most important tasks in our office. Melanoma skin cancer may be a potentially fatal skin cancer and dermatologists are the front-line defenders in the fight against this serious health problem. Complete skin examinations are important because they are helpful in detecting moles which may have a serious risk of developing into cancer. Of course, checking the skin for common pre-cancerous growths – actinic keratosis, as well as for basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma are a part of the complete skin examination.
